Kankima Sustainable Communities, Inc. (KSCI) is named after the Kankima village in the East African country of Burundi.
Our name reflects our intention to create economically strong and sustainably thriving communities in East Africa, one village at a time.

Sustainable Economic Development
We use modern techniques to improve farming and cattle-keeping in Burundi and boost agricultural output on farms through irrigation and conservation.

Environmental sustainability
Our Sustainable Environmental Management Program reduces the use of firewood and charcoal and trains communities in sustainable practices, reforestation, and modern agroforestry.

Clean Water Access & Renewable Energy
We provide communities access to clean, sustainable energy and safe drinking water

We improve education access for children in Kankima and surrounding villages by tackling challenges like infrastructure, learning materials, sanitation, and socio-economic barriers.

Supporting Communities and Farms in Burundi, Africa
Our organization serves women, school-aged children, and communities in rural Burundi, Africa. Our mission starts in the village of Kankima with hopes to someday expand to farms throughout Burundi, Africa.
KSCI was started as our way of giving back to our roots. Using the lenses of sustainability and the skills and traditions of the Burundian people, we work with partner organizations and individuals, as well as expert advice from key stakeholders, to achieve our objectives of sustainable economic development.
